Robert W. Jackson

Robert Jackson earned his juris doctor
degree from the University of Oklahoma
College of Law in 1991, where he also
earned his bachelor's degree. While in law
school and for some time after graduating
law school, Robert served as a judicial law
clerk to the Honorable Ed Parks, Judge of
the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals,
Oklahoma's "court of last resort" for
criminal cases.
After Judge Parks retired,  Robert
practiced in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in the
firm of Holmes and Jackson, specializing in
criminal defense. He is still "of counsel" to
the Kenneth Holmes law firm. Robert left
Ponca City to join the Oklahoma Indigent
Defense System where he represented
death-sentenced persons in state and
federal court. Robert handled direct
appeals, post-conviction cases and
appeals, and federal habeas corpus cases.
In 1995 he and Steve Presson formed their
Norman law firm to focus on criminal
appeals and criminal defense.
Robert is admitted to practice in all
Oklahoma Courts, all three Oklahoma
federal district courts, the United States
Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and
the United States Supreme Court. He is a
member of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense
Lawyer's Association, and is a member of
the federal court's special death penalty
habeas corpus panel.
Robert argues regularly before the Tenth
Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, and has
argued before the en banc court.
Steven M. Presson

Steve Presson earned his juris doctor
degree from the University of Oklahoma
College of Law in 1989. He also earned his
bachelor's degree from Oklahoma
University. While in law school, Steve was
on Law Review and the National Trial
Advocacy Team.  
Following law school, Steve practiced in a
large Dallas law firm before returning to
Oklahoma to serve as a judicial law clerk
to the Honorable Robin Cauthron, Chief
United States District Judge in the
Oklahoma City federal court. Thereafter,
Steve joined the Oklahoma Indigent
Defense System, where he represented
death sentenced persons in state and
federal courts.
In 1995-96, Steve served as a staff
attorney and clinical instructor in the OU
College of Law's Legal Aid Clinic. During
this time he and Robert Jackson formed
their law firm to provide criminal defense
services in Oklahoma.
Steve is admitted to practice in all
Oklahoma and Texas state and federal
courts, the Fifth and Tenth Circuit Courts
of Appeal, and the United States Supreme
Court. He is a member of the Oklahoma
Criminal Defense Lawyer's Association,
the American Bar Association, the
American Civil Liberties Union (where he
serves as an officer on the Oklahoma
affiliate's board), and is on the federal
court's special death penalty habeas
corpus panel.
Steve also regularly argues habeas
corpus cases  before the Tenth Circuit
Court of Appeals.
